And I had to explain to one of my students that the story had nothing to do with drugs or legalizing marijuana.
In any event - This story was no surprise to me. We all knew that the 1% were squirreling their money away some place and some how.
Now, thanks to a leak - either intentional or accidental - we know exactly how.
And the US media - which serves the interests of the 1% - messed up the story.
I'm sick and tired of hearing about Russian oligarchs and their connections to Putin. (For any Republicans or conservatives reading this - Putin is the President of Russia. It is not french fries covered with melted cheese and gravy. That is a cardiologist's nightmare. However- feel free to eat as much of that as you want.)
What the American media should have been covering is the US 1% and it's connection to the halls of power in the US.
But wait - Russia is one of our official enemies (along with China, Cuba, and any other country that resists US hegemony. Speaking of which, I need to read Hegemony or Survival one of these days. I've been told it is very good.)
That and the US 1% owns the US media, So if we want to know who in the US is implicated by this data leak, we're going to have to go outside of the US media.
So, I'm off to see where I can find who is guilty of what in this story.
What individuals that have bellyached for tax breaks and then ran away with the money instead of doing something useful with it,
What corporations are affiliated with financial high jinx. Pretty much they all are. I'd rather have hard evidence than hearsay.
So I've seen repercussions in Iceland and it seems France.
When will the US light up?
Or will the corporate press keep Americans in the dark.
As they do ever so well.
