The big announcement
has happened and Bourgeois Socialism is coming to Dunkirk and
Buffalo.
NYS is spending (or
going to spend over) $200 million to build a plant that will
manufacture cancer treatment medications. We (the taxpayers) are
spending the money and a privately owned corporation is going to
lease (for a song) the property and manufacture the drugs.
The state will also
spend $25 million to help build a corporate HQ in Buffalo.
Total jobs expected
by this “public-private” partnership? In the realm of 1400
total. 900 in Dunkirk. 500 in Buffalo.
Ands these will be
good paying jobs as well.
As long as you have
a MS or PhD in Biology, Chemistry or a related bio-medical field. Or
possibly management.
Everyone else can
take a hike.
That was the big
announcement on Thursday.
Big deal.
So the workers at
Con-Agra and other plants that lost their jobs probably won't find
work at the plant.
Construction workers
will for 2 years.
Unemployed blue
collar workers? Not.
And how many
unemployed MS & PhD scientists do we have in WNY?
Let's face the facts
– most of the employees in the high paying research jobs are coming
from out of state and potentially country.
Net local
unemployment drop?
Pretty close to 0.
That's a zero.
Oh.
What exactly are we
celebrating?
