The Buffalo News
has joined with the Tampa Bay Times in
its “Politifact” Project. This is a “fact checking”
web-site that will list a politician's claims and compare it against
what the available evidence. Answers range from “True” to “Liar
Liar Pants are on Fire.” This is called the “Truth-O-Meter.”
This
project began over eight years ago and has “fact checked”
numerous claims from politicians.
Fairnessand Accuracy in Reporting has posted stories about it. I did a quick search and found some interesting articles that question the work they do. Sad, I can't link to the list. Go to the site and search PolitiFact and browse the articles that grab your attention. From Planned Parenthood, to Iran, to many different stories.
I
find it an interesting site though. It's useful to use against both parties
that are controlled by the 1%.
This
campaign season has seen it's share of whoppers.
Grab
a glass of your favourite beverage, sit down, and laugh (or cry) at
what you find.
I'd
like them to do an economic version. We could call it “Econo-Fact”
and fact check the claims of the economic elites.
Do
tax cuts create good paying jobs?
Are
so called “free trade” deals good for the working class?
The
real unemployment rate is ….. ?
Somehow
I don't think that will catch on…..
Can't imagine why.
