I swear the news media gets off making this election a rederendum on Trump. They go off on his Tweets, mis-statements to the press, and whatever else they can come up with.
To me, their question is: Can we trust this man (Donald Trump) to be the face of the ruling elite and of capitalism?
And the mid term elections are going to be that.
They are not making a big deal about how the tax cuts that the Republican Party pushed throuh, along with an unnecessary increase to the military budget, have increased the defecit and now the Republicans are talking about cutting Social Security, Medicare and other social welfare programs that help the 99%. By the way, Social Security and Medicare are self funding through taxes. The reason that they are running short is that the money is swept out of the fund and used to "balance the budget." More like imbalance it.
They are not making a big deal about how Trump said that he would "drain the swamp" and then packed the government with industry insiders and other hihly incompetent people. Betsy DeVos in charge of Education? She isn't even a certified teacher. Zinke? Pruitt? And so on.
They are not tzlking about Trump's disastrous pull out from the Paris Climate Accords (as weak as they were) or the US-Russia Intermediate Missile Treaty. Climate change will be a disaster fornthe USA. The coasts are in danger. The old confederacy will be severely flooded out. And the Army Corps of Engineers will have a devil of a time trying to control floodi g on the Mississippi. And all the internal migration that is already occurring because of the effects that we are suffering now. And the droughts in California and the Mid West.
God help us if someone pushes a button and launches a nuke.
Then there are the issues facing minorities, non-Judeo Christian faiths, LGBTQI individuals, and so many more issues.
None of which the media covered in any real way and refuse to cover.
The media missed the point(s) for the last two years and now are trying to make a circus out of a clown act.
I'm not buying it.
Neither should you.
Let's make this election a referendum on capitalism and its failures.
And let the media and politicians know that.
