Rod Watson penned a great article about the Democratic Tweet/textstorm that happened Monday night. Democrats joined together to contact people about why they should vote for Democrats. Simply put : they are not republicans.
Yes, the Republicans are terrible for the working class. The Democrats have a less than stellar record to run on. Remember - the Democrats & Republicans are the 2 main faces of the capitalist class. Both the DNC & RNC are owned and controlled by capitalists and their cash. And we need to remember that back when the DNC was created, Hillary Clinton said that she was not a Democrat but an Eisenhower Republican. So at the top we have two faces of Republican leadership and a strong divide developing at the bottom. Nancy Pelosi even stated that she would oppose any legislation that progressive candidates put forward.
So, someone, anyone rell me why I want to vote for a Democrat?
Yes, trump and the Republicans are terrible, but with spineless leadership at the other end, what's the difference between the two groups of leaders?
President Obama could have led the charge on single payer or Medicare for All. I stead we received a law that forces us to purchase private health insurance. No victory there. And Medicare for all needed 2 words struck from the law ("under 65") and 100% of the population had health insurance. And striking down the tax caps on Social Security ($116,000 for singles, $120,000 for couples) covers the costs.
Obama could have gone after the banks. We were forced to rescue them and countless people lost their homes.
And more failures than I care to list here.
The working class needs to liberate itself from the "navel-gazing intellectuals" of the Democratic party and embrace ideas and movements that fight for their rights and interests.
They won't find that in party leaders that are corporate controlled.
