New Era, after being in WNY for so many years, is taking a hike down south, Miami specifically. Don't like the snow? Wait for the first hurricane. Or the rising water from climate change. Buffalo snow & winters will seem like a breeze.
They are departing for whatever reason they gave. It deals with capitalism - the need to make more profits from the working class. Never mind the taxes that they didn't have to pay because the working class was picking them up through tax breaks. The wages for the workers were too much, so the factory had to go. Northern union wages that made the ompany what it was were too high, so the jobs had to go. Prices for their products won't go down though. As always, they will remain the same and the excess profits will go into the CEOs pockets, as well as upper management, while the workers get scraps.
Items will come from 3rd world countries and will be fully assembled in the new factory. This will satisfy the "Made in America" terms of their contract with the major sports leagues. And that is a joke. But it is the way it is with everything else. Parts of cars are made all over the world, shipped into the USA and the final
product is assembled.
Trump's tariffs had nothing to do with this, supposedly. But the bigger issue is the CWA union workers that are losing their jobs and benefits tomthe non-union labor down south.
Remember - if the quality of the work goes down, those union workers aren't going down south to fix things up.
Experience and quality comes with a price.
And the working class paid that price already.
And capitalism plays the same old song and dance.
